General Motors Akerson said his managers are underpaid and could leave because of Government imposed pay caps. Asian and far Eastern concerns have build quality fuel efficient vehicles while their executives and managers are paid a faction of the salaries and benefits American concerns pay.
If GM cannot find lower cost managers and executives in America or Europe they need to turn to India, Korea, China or Japan for qualified cheaper help. That was and is the rationale behind sending American Blue Collar jobs overseas and sourcing foreign made components, why not executives and managers?
Reduce those multi- thousand dollar and multi-million dollar salaries and benefits and how many union workers can you pay? How much can you reduce the price of a car? How much could you increase shareholder dividends? How much faster would you reduce your debt load? Reduce the need for tax incentives?
Earning caps? Not to long ago financial institutions were demanding the General reduce labor costs in order to qualify for financing. And it seems only reasonable that if a company receives or bids on Government contracts, applies for or receives tax breaks or incentives from the Government they should not be able to contribute to political campaigns or lobby elected officials.
